World Map
After being on Postcrossing for about 6 months and receiving more than 300+ postcards, i had the chance to have enough postcards to create a world map of postcards in my new house. It was a really funny activity to do, and i enjoyed it a lot.
The painting took about 5 hours to do. First i recreate a world map with the help of a projector, then i painted it with acrylic. I choose to paint it in 3 colors because it was easier, but more appealing too. The postcards are attached with a papier clip; then the paper clip is attached with a colored pin. That way the postcard is not damaged, and i can take it off easily to read the back.
The hard part was to choose which postcards i would put there; some are there because i think they are really beautiful. Some are interesting, or represent my memories. Some are from really nice people that i enjoyed swapping with. Most have all those reasons.
The wall have exactly 150 postcards on the August 6th, 2013. I will probably add more if i receive postcard i like a lot. This picture doesn't show all the wall; since i wasn't able to take a picture wide enough. It's only a small view of my work place with my computer ( yes that's 2 computer screens at the bottom ).
I find it amazing how quickly and easily you can meet people around the world, that are willing to send a postcard to a total stranger. Some may find it really weird, but i like to believe it shows how the world is friendly and nice.
Thank you so much to every member that helped me to achieve this Postcards World Map : ) Also, if you don't find your postcard on the wall, don't worry, as i told already, it's not all of them you can see there. I chooses only postcards with a view of a city or a map to create an unicity. I will put the rest of the postcards in a book where i can look at it when i want.
